Original, signed passport valid for 6 months beyond stay in Afghanistan, with at least one blank passport page available for Afghanistan visa stamp. Amendment pages in the back of the passport are not suitable for Afghanistan visas. Los Angeles: The passport must have two blank passport pages face to face.
Afghan Visa Application Form:
One signed Afghanistan visa application form, plus one copy. Washington DC: All visa applications must be notarized, the notary stamp must be on the second page of the application. After placing your order, fill out the application form included in your Visa Application Kit.
One recent 2 x 2 passport type photograph, in color, front view and with a plain/white background.
OR - you can upload a passport photo when you place your order, instead of providing physical passport photos.
Business Cover Letter:
Original, signed letter from employer or sponsoring company in the US, on company letterhead, introducing the applicant, indicating the applicant’s employment status/position held in the company, and including the applicant's passport number. If the applicant is a government contractor, this must be stated on the letter. The letter must specify the purpose of visit to Afghanistan, and request the Afghanistan visa. The business letter must also indicate who will be financially responsible for the applicant while in Afghanistan and must provide detailed contact information in Afghanistan.
The Consulate of Afghanistan requires an official business letter to support your application. To generate an Afghanistan Business Cover Letter on-line, simply request this service and provide your information using the simple online form in your Visa Application Kit, which you will receive once you place your order.
Health clearance letter indicating that the person is not suffering from Ebola or any other contagious disease. In Washington DC an immunization card is also acceptable.
Applicants presenting approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Afghanistan may receive a multiple entry Afghanistan visa. In all other cases single entry Afghanistan visas are granted.

Afghanistan Visa Validity:
Afghanistan visas are generally issued for a single entry within 1 month, 3 months or 6 months for a stay of up to 3 or 6 months. The validity of Afghanistan visas is at the discretion of the Consulate or Embassy of Afghanistan.

The US State Department strongly encourages American citizens planning international travel to register with the US Embassy(s) in the countries they plan to visit. Registration notifies the US Embassy in each country of your travel plans and enrolls you in the State Department travel advisory and warnings program. Computer generated flight itinerary from the airline or a travel agency or copy of airline ticket showing entry and departure from Afghanistan.
Letter of Intent:
A letter addressed to the Consulate of Afghanistan outlining the applicant’s purpose of travel, the length of intended stay in Afghanistan, name of places to be visited, contact information in Afghanistan, and accommodation information.

Afghanistan visa processing varies greatly depending on the type of visa requested. Please visit our “Afghanistan Consular Fees and Visa Processing Options” link for details.
